I spent the afternoon today making these adorable Macaroni Kid-themed cupcakes with my own Macaroni Kids! They are a perfect treat for spring or summer. Enjoy!

What You'll Need:
- Package of cake mix with required ingredients
- Frosting
- Bag of standard size marshmallows
- Gumdrops (any color)


Directions:
1. Make cupcakes using cake mix as described on box.
2. Bake, cool and frost.


3. With kitchen shears, cut marshmallow in to circles. (I was able to get four circles per marshmallow)

A friend told me about how she started making her own laundry detergent and I was immediately intrigued!  Why would anyone do that?  It seems to be such a complicated process, what with all the special qualities laundry soaps have nowadays...boosters...whiteners...brighteners!  

Then she told me that she pays about 3 cents per load.  She got my attention.  
I was a bit skeptical...my husband has allergies to certain fabrics and detergents so I thought I'd give it a try and not tell him-a REAL blind test ...

Instructor Kristen Rovan Panek will lead parents and children in simple, fun yoga poses to promote focus, coordination, self-esteem and relaxation. Students will "play" yoga by imitating animals and nature, in a fun and caring environment. Kristen Panek is a certified Level I yoga instructor through the YogaFit program, and has been teaching yoga to children and families in Johnstown for four years.

Saturday, May 5 - Art Workshop with S. Scott Steberger

This hands-on workshop will cover the use of composition, design and texture in making art on a flat surface.  Traditional drawing and painting techniques, as well as more modern approaches and improvisational aspects, will be addressed.  Everyone will work at their own skill level and speed and will have complete control over what they produce.  Subject matter is unlimited (landscape/still life/abstract/etc.). One of the topics of the workshop is to show how to go from an idea to a finished work of art, dealing with all of the challenges the process brings. Bring photos and/or sketches of subject matter (land/city scenes, still life, and inspiration of any source).

Saturday, May 5 - A Victorian Tea Party in Honor of Mother’s Day

The Johnstown Area Heritage Association is presenting a Victorian Tea Party in honor of Mother’s Day.The menu will follow Victorian tea traditions, featuring items such as scones and fresh fruit.  Presenters will dress in period clothing and will discuss the differences between afternoon and high tea in the 19th century.
