Weave Flowers on a CD

By Julie Follansbee and the St. Michael's Agua Viva Mission Team August 27, 2015
We made these crafts during our 2015 St. Michael's of the Valley Mission Trip to Agua Viva Children's Home in Guatemala. Here are more of the crafts we did with the kids.

What you need for Woven CD Flowers:
  • CDs or DVDs
  • Scraps of yarn in assorted colors and textures
  • Green pipe cleaners

With about a 30" piece of yarn, wrap it around the disk going into the center hole and once around.
Tie a knot to secure.

Continue wrapping from the center and around the disk until you have just enough to tie off. You have just "warped" the loom.

Fasten a pipe cleaner to one of the strands of yarn that you have just wrapped.

Next take the scraps of yarn and weave them through the loom with your fingers in a circular fashion and going over one strand of yarn and under the next and alternating the whole way around.
Continue by mixing up the colors and textures for a truly unique flower!
