Funny how these are becoming all the rage! An oldie but goodie, they are great fun for kids and adults alike to make.

Supplies

Embroidery floss OR crochet thread OR string OR yarn OR twine

Liquid starch and flour OR fabric stiffener OR mod podge OR sugar water

Balloons

Parchment paper

Small treats for inside eggs (small toys, candies, bubbles, stickers)

Small bowl (I prefer glass)
Cover your work surface with Parchment.

There are many ways to stiffen your string.  I tried most of them! Fill your bowl with either liquid starch mixed with just enough flour to have the consistency of paste, OR fabric stiffener OR mod podge slightly diluted with water or sugar water.

Take approximately 8-10 yard lengths of the string and slowly lower one end into the stiffener like you are layering a hose ( to prevent tangling).

Blow up your balloon to the size you like. Gently manipulate to shape into an egg.
Start wrapping your string around the balloon overlapping as much as you can. If you need more string, cut another 8-10 yard length and repeat the soaking process.

When you think you have enough covered, hang balloon to dry. ( it may drip so make sure you put something beneath the balloons).

Wait several hours or overnight for them to dry.

When completely dry, pop balloon and carefully remove.

You can also put small treats inside the balloon before you blow it up. It's a little trickier to remove the balloon, but a fun way to present treats!
