Did you know that Little League Baseball turns 75 this year and it all started not too far from here on June 6, 1939 in Williamsport PA by Carl Stotz with just 3 teams!

It's been a part of my family forever...my grandfather played on the New York Yankees farm team, my dad played as a kid then coached, my brother played, I played softball and my son played T-ball.

The technology of Little League has evolved over the years...Carl Stotz used old house rafters to build the first backstop, old rubber and a pen knife to make home plate and duck cloth bags filled with wood shavings for bases...but the core philosophy remains the same. "Develop Major League People On and Off the Field". Little League Baseball and Softball has grown to be the largest youth organization in the world. It has been built on the philosophy of teaching kids courage, loyalty and character.

On the 75th anniversary, in an effort to spread the love of baseball to those less fortunate, The "Little League Big Legacy" program was started. For every photograph sent in the the www.LittleLeagueBigLegacy website, $1 will be donated to "Pitch In For Baseball" a program which will buy equipment for kids in need.   They'll use every photo collected to create a much larger photo (using the colors, shapes and sizes of the smaller photos) to create the world's largest mosaic (a surprise picture!) to be unveiled on June 6. The photos need to be related to baseball. The goal is 50,000!
