About The Publisher: Julie Follansbee

My name is Julie Follansbee and I'm a wife, mother of a philosopher/musical artist, former dressmaker turned alpaca rancher (www.alpacamom.com) and now newsletter publisher.

My family and I moved to the Johnstown area 28 years ago and before I started the Mac Kid Johnstown/Laurel Highlands/Altoona site I would spend hours trying to find things to do with my young son-mind you before most of us relied on the internet!  When I learned about Macaroni Kid after seeing a site online over 11 years ago I knew it was exactly what Johnstown and later Laurel Highlands and Altoona needed.

We provide a complete and current calendar of events as well as articles about crafts, recipes, and other articles of interest.

We celebrated our 10th Anniversary of publishing May 2020 having published our first newsletter in May 2010, so we have just entered our 11th year!)

If you haven't signed up for our free weekly newsletter please take a moment and do so. You'll get the weekly scoop of things to do in Johnstown/Laurel Highlands/Altoona delivered to your inbox each Thursday and you'll never hear "Mom, I'm bored!" again. And I think we can all agree as parents that that is a good thing!

We had a regular segment on Central Pa Live twice a month from August of 2012-2019. We expanded to the Altoona area in the summer of 2013. In October of 2013, I was awarded the "Neighbor Dorothy" Flying Pig Award. In November of 2013, I was the Featured Publisher.

We now have a featured Money Talks segment 2 times per month on Around the Alleghenies.

As we've grown, we've added an invaluable assistant and I'd like you to meet her. she keeps the wheels on the bus around here!
