Upper Yoder Township Police Department Safe Medication Disposal Box

By Police Chief Donald Hess October 25, 2018

Residents may drop off unneeded prescription and over the counter medications at any time with no questions asked. That medication will then be disposed of properly. Unfortunately, we cannot accept needles, liquids or inhalers.

The opioid epidemic effects everybody in our region and getting these unneeded medications out of our homes is an important step in the battle. Many people who are arrested as a result of their addiction tell officers that their problem began with prescription pain killers and unfortunately, the medicine cabinet at home is where many children get their first exposure to drugs. Plus, getting these controlled substances out of your home makes you less likely to be a target for burglary.

Residents having medications needing disposal should ring the buzzer at the front door of the POLICE STATION. If there are no officers at the office to answer the buzzer at that time, residents can call the new Non- emergency number (814)472-2100 and the on-duty officer will respond as soon as possible.

Very Truly Yours,

Police Chief Donald Hess
