"We are looking forward to a large crowd while having a fun filled day of raising money to feed our local people in need.” said Greg Karcher, Johnstown Family Kitchen Manager. “Our goal for 2022 is to raise $50,000 for a new roof for the soup kitchen facility. The soup kitchen’s roof, which was installed in 1990, currently has a ‘D’ rating in terms of viability (or 2-4 years of service life remaining) with one portion evaluated with an ‘F’ rating (1 year service life) to continue to feed those in need. We are asking for sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, to help our Sip, Rock, and Duck Drop Fundraiser reach our goal of raising $50,000. The Johnstown Family Kitchen is a concern of Food for Families, Inc. a subsidiary of the Society of St. Vincent dePaul. The Family Kitchen is located at 231 Bedford Street in Johnstown PA. The Family Kitchen established in 1994, is primarily an all-volunteer operation, supported by churches, groups, businesses and people who give food, money, and time. The Family Kitchen operates daily serving a hot lunchtime meal to any in need, no questions asked.” said Eileen Graham, Event Co-Chair.

“Sip, Rock, and Duck Drop is a great opportunity for us to raise much needed funds. It will be a fun and enjoyable day for the whole family that will feature music, food and a variety of other activities while knowing that 100% of your donations will stay local. Every dollar raised goes directly to facility needs, food purchases, equipment and facility upgrades to feed our local community members that are in a difficult life situation. The Johnstown Soup Kitchen serves on average 150 meals a day at no charge to individuals in need. The cost for providing this much-needed service is over $150,000 annually; or around $4.00 a meal. We can only achieve this goal with the assistance from generous businesses and individuals. Without these donations, serving those in need in our area would be impossible.” said Megan Foster, Event Co-Chair.
