APPLETTERS
For ages 5 and up and suitable for 1-4 players this game is fun for the whole family if you like word games!  APPLETTERS encourages players to connect words to one another in a snakelike fashion (instead of in the Scrabble crossword way).  Nice sized tiles for small fingers with several options of games like APPLE TURNOVER, APPLE SEED, and APPLE PIE!  I really like the apple shaped fabric pouch.  By BANANAGRAMS and made in the USA!

PAIRS IN PEARS
Another word game by BANANGRAMS.  Pairs in Pears is geared to kids 3 and up.  The tiles are larger than APPLETTERS and are also stored in a pear shaped fabric pouch...so cute!  It's a wonderful way to teach the alphabet and build early reading skills to pre-readers.  The tiles come in 4 different patterns and kids can play a variety of games from sorting letters, to sounding out letters, to building words.  Our testers practiced their spelling words with them!  Mom could even use the tiles to leave messages!

TINKERTOYS
For ages 3 and up.  We were given the Tinkertoy "Transit Building Set" to review and I have to say that this one was incredibly cute and popular with our testers.  The pieces are large and easy to handle.  The brightly colored pieces STAY together so that the kids can actually play with what they build!  There is a nice booklet with easy to follow directions and more than one option to build!  Our toy tester Anthony loved the train he built!  Tinkertoys are now made by K'NEX and parts are made in the USA...I like that!

K'NEX
Recommended for kids 7 and up, we were sent the K'NEX classics to try out.  Our testers collaborated to build the 20th Anniversry "Rally Sport Racer and the Strike Force Bomber".  K'NEX has so many options of kits for every interest!  Nice to see another toy made in the USA.

GREEN KIDS CRAFTS DISCOVERY BOX
This one was hands down the winner!  ALL of our parents were impressed with this toy and several have already signed their kids up to recieve it.  It's a craft of the month club type toy.  You can sign up for a 3, 6 or 12 month membership at a cost of $19.50 per month. Most of the supplies are included (you supply common household items).  All crafts are eco friendly, natural and non-toxic.

THE CRAFTY PRINCESS AND BOY MADE

Two books by Downtown Bookworks.  Our toy testers went to town with these too!  Each book is printed on recycled paper and contains at least 75 craft ideas and the supplies to make many of them!  Of course, it is a jumping off point and you can replenish your supply and add common household projects.  Kids built a tick tack toe game, princess crown and sceptor, bracelets and more!  EVERYONE wanted to do this one!

MONSUNO ACTION FIGURES

by Jakks Pacific

From the website: "65 MILLION YEARS AGO...Meteors fell to the planet. These meteors carried LIFE – in the form of powerful, chaotic, uncontrollable genetic material.  This was MONSUNO; origins unknown, but catastrophically destructive to the planet’s prehistoric population. As the dinosaurs perished, the uninvited Monsuno essence fell instinctively dormant – and over millions of years, dropped deeper and deeper below the planet’s surface.. Until TODAY. When a potent energy source is discovered in the K-layers of the planet, scientist Jeredy Suno believes he’s struck a solution to the ever-mounting energy crisis. What he doesn’t know – this green energy source is a ticking time bomb. Can it be controlled?"
Right up a boy's alley!
We got the "Core Tech" Team pack with "Lock", a Polar Bear and "Evo", a Bird for our testers to try.  The package includes the 2 figures, 2 "Cores" which the figures go in for battle and 2 posters for the battle arena.  The idea is to load your figure into the core, spin them and battle.   Recommended for ages 4 and up.  Glen, our 5 year old tester found the pieces to be a little tricky to load but persisted and had a battle going soon enough!
Available in single and combo packs and of course, there are trading cards!

GLO GLO INKOOS

from the Bridge Direct
Recommended for kids 4 and up.
A cute pillow shaped stuffed animal that your child can write on with the special markers. You can wash it and start over!  It comes with a set of 4 markers.  One of the markers is a special light pen that lets kids write or draw in the dark!  Our testers thought that they would write with it and then go into a dark place and it would glow like many other glow in the dark items, but it works best when you are IN THE DARK.  I can imagine a little one drawing while in bed...when they are supposed to be asleep!  Our tester Sidney wrote a special note to her mom and then had everyone at the party sign the toy!  A word of caution though...make sure your child knows that only this toy can be drawn on with the special markers that come with it!
