Maxwell The Raindrop Who Wouldn't Fall by Joseph Moore

This is a book with a very important message for children and adults alike.  

Maxwell is a Raindrop and he isn't following the plan of falling from a rain cloud even though all of his buddies are.  They are jumping off with abandon, making plans for when and how they will fall and on what.  Maxwell isn't buying it because he doesn't want to BE a raindrop at all. Each time it is supposed to rain and Maxwell refuses to jump with the other raindrops, a wise old cloud explains to him why he can't BE a bird, a rainbow, or a flower. The cloud explains how important Maxwell's being a raindrop is to the bird, the raindrop and the flower and how they couldn't exist without him.

We try to teach our children how important it is to be who they are and not try to be anyone else but this is a wonderful story that illustrates how important their uniqueness is and how we all impact others and our community by staying true to it once we discover what that is. "Maxwell" illustrates how we all are individuals and have our own place in the world.

Maxwell is a lovely story, with bright cheerful illustrations and easy to understand language for little ones.  The story has a nice rhythm and progresses logically as Maxwell learns his worth.  I found myself thinking how kids would love to have a Maxwell stuffed toy as they read it only to find that there is one.

If you are looking for a nice story for your child, "Maxwell The Raindrop Who Wouldn't Fall" by Joseph Moore and Illustrated by Jaclyn Donnelly is definitely a good choice!
