Banana Yo-Pops

By Natalia Berry May 19, 2011

Mmmmmmm! :)

What you need:

*1/2 - 1 Cup of your favorite yogurt (we love the strawberry yogurt for this)

*3 - 4 firm (not soft or mushy yet!) bananas.

        - 1 banana equals two servings

*6 - 8 popsicle sticks (not the really thin ones though.  go for the medium to large ones)

*Candy sprinkles (optional)

*Wax paper

 What to do:

*Cut the bananas in half (short length not lengthwise)

*Put a popsicle stick about half way into each bottom (flat side) of the bananas

*Cover each banana in yogurt (originally we were thinking dipping them into a cup would work but it not we're thinking spooning the yogurt onto the banana is waaayyy easier)

*Decorate with candy sprinkles (optional)

*Lay the bananas on the wax paper and stick in the freezer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until frozen.

*Enjoy!

 Random Banana Facts:

*Did you know that bananas don't actually grow on a tree?  The plant they grow on has no bark or branches.  What looks like the 'tree' is actually the stem.  Crazy, right?  I didn't know that.

*Bananas grow in 'upside-down' bunches

*They can satisfy 'sugar cravings' because of their sweetness

*Great for babies because they are easy to digest, have no fat and they taste great... although they don't always look that great once the little ones are done smushing them all over the tray! :)

*They are the true "Good Mood Food"; bananas have been researched for their uncanny ability to help overcome depression with their levels of serotonin

*Bananas are the 'ideal' energy boost!
