Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk

SUPPLIES:
Plaster of paris
water
plastic cups
plastic spoons and knife
duct tape
waxed paper
toilet or paper towel tubes
ice cube trays or molds
tempera paint or food coloring
disposable container for mixing



Start by preparing your molds.  To make the traditional cylinder shaped chalk, take a toilet paper roll, paper towel roll or other roll (you will need to trim to size) and put duct tape on the bottom.
Line it with waxed paper.
 


Mix up your plaster of paris 2 parts plaster of paris to one part water (like 1/2 cup water to 1 cup plaster of paris) and add several tablespoons of tempera paint.



Mix up to the consistency of cake batter.

     


Pour plaster into mold of choice.



Let dry in mold in the sun or in a warm room.
