Make Patriotic T-Shirts for All

By Julie Follansbee June 25, 2015
Fourth of July fun on Central Pa. Live!

Nothing says America like a flag so here is an idea of how to combine your patriotism with a keepsake.

Materials needed:
  • Plain white t-shirt
  • Fabric paint in red and blue
  • Glow in the dark paint (optional)
  • Rectangular piece of cardboard
  • Clear packing tape
  • Foam brushes

  1. Wash and dry t-shirts  to remove any sizing.
  2. Place cardboard inside t-shirt and fold sides of t-shirt in and bottom up. Secure with clear packing tape to make it tight for easier painting.
  3. Start by coating child's hand with blue fabric paint (make sure it is pretty wet)
  4. Press hand onto upper left hand corner of t-shirt where the stars would be on an American flag.
  5. Have child wash hand and continue with stripes around the hand print.
  6. You can add stars or dots with the glow in the dark paint. We added 50!
  7. Let dry and have fun!
