Quick foods can be nutritious, so I was so happy to receive Applegate’s hotdogs to review as part of our Summer Fun Party. At some point this summer, most of us will be buying hotdogs...in a survey conducted by Applegate, 92% of Americans bought hotdogs last year. 80% agreed that most hot dogs are low quality and unhealthy. When faced with choosing hotdogs with more or less ingredients, 91% of Americans chose hotdogs with fewer ingredients.
Made with only 4 ingredients: 100% grass-fed beef, water, salt and spices, Applegate hotdogs are the cleaner alternative to traditional choices. Applegate products are made without preservatives, artificial colors or additives and come from animals raised humanely and without antibiotics. Applegate only uses naturally occurring nitrites (for a great explanation, visit this link.) You won't find any high fructose corn syrup either!
We made our hotdogs in a crock pot. Heat your crockpot on high and add the hotdogs without water. They will generate enough liquid and if they do crisp up a bit, your kids will think they're grilled. Cook for 2 hours and then turn heat down to low or warm. That's it!
We'd like to thank Sir Kensington’s (@sirkensingtons) for supplying the ketchup and mustard for our review!

What did our parents and kids say? They really liked the taste! One Mom compared the taste to a beef jerky. One said that yes, they eat hotdogs and that she will definitely be on the lookout for Applegate hotdogs from now on. Another mom shared that she had purchased other Applegate products at our local grocery store and that it was nice to taste the products before you buy them and was pleased with the quality of these.
On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the highest, overall, the Applegate products scored a 3.8!
