Macaroni Kid is always on the lookout for new and exciting toys. If we can sneak a little learning in, then we've hit a home run.
Such is the case with these two new STEM certified building sets our intrepid scouts found just in time for Christmas.
Unicorns are still top on many kid's lists and the Linxies Unicorn Barn playset comes with three unicorns, three characters and a full barn featuring swinging doors. There is so much artistic detail in the panels and the plastic pieces are brightly colored to coordinate.
Main Street by Gujo is another STEM certified playset that can be completely customizable and features characters with changeable expressions. Main Street pieces are fully integratable with all other Gujo products, further adding to the creative play experience.
We got together with a local Daisy Troop and had the kids test Linxies Unicorn Barn and Gujo Main Street out.
I opened the boxes, spread the packaged pieces on our large tables, and the kids divided the building up amongst themselves. One girl assembled unicorns while another worked on the barn structure. Over at Main Street little Emma got to work punching the sturdy cardboard panels out and setting them aside for her friend to put together. With a little adult help in some places, they quickly had a fully functioning farm with a water trough, hay barrels, and lots of tools that the characters could hold in their hands. Did I mention that the Unicorn Barn has a chandelier? That's right!
The girls loved Main Street with it's florist shop, record shop, donut shop and clothing shop. Each has unique accessories like records. The girls had no idea what they were but the parents knew and got a chuckle.
Our parent testers liked that the pieces are very sturdy. They are strong enough to withstand play yet are not hard for the kids to punch out. The panels and characters are colorful and extremely detailed in the artwork. One parent noted that the ages of the kids in our group ranged from kindergarten to 3rd grade and the playsets were suited to them all. She liked that they were toys a child could change around and play with again and again and not outgrow too quickly.
Each playset comes with characters who have an identity. Gujo Main Street comes with fashionista Claire and her best friend Madison, while Linxies Unicorn Barn has trainer Finn and his unicorn Flynn, Lila and Crystal, and Emma and Agnes. It's a great jumping off point for a child's imagination and they can add to the story as they play.
There are two more sets than the ones we tested. Have a space adventurer? Gujo has a Mission Mars playset being swarmed by Martian invaders! Think what your child could do with that story to help characters Michael, Luke Ethan and Neil build a rocket and space station. And yes, these sets are also STEM certified!
Maybe your explorer takes to the high seas and would enjoy the Linxies Pirate Adventure Set! Follow Koral and her brother Klip as they search for buried treasure before the notorious Captain Blacklink gets to it. Like the other playsets, the Pirate Ship is full of detail and is also STEM certified.
All Gujo and Linxies playsets are priced between $24.99 and $39.99. Order on their websites now and receive FREE ground shipping for those within the continental United States! |
