A perk of being a Macaroni Kid Publisher is having the opportunity to try new products and review them for our local community. An amazing perk is sharing the actual product with members of the community. The absolute BEST opportunity is when we get asked to Deliver and Delight families with special products, usually as a surprise. I love doing these and Blount’s Family Kitchen asked us to do just that with their new Wholesome Refrigerated Comfort Meals.
Off I went to Martin's at 2032 E. Pleasant Valley Road, Altoona to shop. Since these high quality, homestyle foods are made in small batches, they are available at select stores (FIND YOUR STORE HERE) for now. I found them in the refrigerated deli section. Karen from the deli at Martin's helped me out. Here's what she told me when we started to chat:

That makes sense since Blount's is a fifth generation New England-based family business started in 1880, and still family owned to this day.
As a trusted and valued producer for many of the leading food companies and finer dining establishments across the country, they started cooking home-style meals that people crave, but too often don’t have the time to make and were steered to create Blount’s Family Kitchen.
Now that I'm armed with my delicious Blount's meals, it's time to Deliver and Delight! Here we go to surprise the parents of the the Altoona Area Public Library. Thanks to Miss Kristy for inviting us into the Toddler Storytime.
On the way out, we met this nice lady who saw what I was doing so I handed her a coupon and she exclaimed that she had several Blount's Family Kitchen Meals in her refrigerator. She was thrilled to get a coupon for another. I'll let her tell you about it.
I decided to make one more stop! I called my friend Kim who I know works super hard and thought I could pop in and surprise her with a wonderfully tasty Blount's Family Kitchen meal for lunch. Unfortunately she was out of town, but said that her husband and son would love it, so I made a quick stop to Fiore's True Value Hardware where I delivered 4 meals and some coupons to the folks there.

In order to give a full review I had to sample one myself. After a day of Delivering and Delighting delicious Blount's Family Kitchen meals to others, it was time to dig into my own!
I tried the Chicken With Noodles in Marsala Wine Sauce. This isn't your ordinary convenience meal. The flavors are out of this world! The portion size is satisfying and it only took 3 minutes to prepare. Paired with a small salad, it was perfect. It's obvious that quality is their highest priority. Blount’s highly-trained culinary staff and nutritionists continuously experiment with the highest quality ingredients to create intensely satisfying dishes. Todd Blount is on premises and often right in the kitchen making sure that all meals meet his family’s exacting standards.

But they have a sense of humor too. I got a chuckle out of the surprise that awaited me when I took my last bite. I certainly hope they mean it.
