Recording Oral History During the Coronavirus

By Elliot Chimelewski Marketing Assistant Ligonier Valley Historical Society Compass Inn Museum May 15, 2020

Good morning,

I hope this email finds you well, and I hope you are staying safe in these unprecedented times. Here at LVHS we are conscious of how important historical documentation is for understanding and preserving events in our past. First-hand accounts are especially valuable, providing a glimpse into how individuals experienced events as they happened. We all are united through this historic COVID-19 pandemic. Below, is a YouTube link to our “Recording Oral History During the Coronavirus” tutorial video. Our talented Program Coordinator, Amanda Seim, created this video to give a concise lesson to the public on our abilities to interview and record others in regards to COVID-19.

We want everyone’s story to be heard, and we ask that they share their experiences with us!

The public can submit their videos or audio accounts to this private, secure drop box, only accessible to LVHS staff. We ask that they let us know if they'd like their stories to be posted or not. It is so important for future generations to understand the significance and impact of this pandemic. Please share with as many people as possible, as this initiative is so important to Ligonier Valley Historical Society. The YouTube and Dropbox link are below.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at echimelewski@compassinn.org or contact Ligonier Valley Historical Society Executive Director, Theresa Gay-Rohall at tgrohall@compassinn.org or call her at 724-238-6818.

Thank you and stay safe,

Elliot Chimelewski
