Johnstown’s Iron to Arts corridor is gaining another arts-themed venue.

Studio32, located at 32 Walnut St., is a photography studio designed to be used by photographers on an as-needed basis. The bright, clean space will offer multiple studios, professional props and lighting, a dressing room, and common meeting area, allowing local photographers to grow their clientele without having to invest in a studio of their own.“There is nothing like this available locally.

Eventually, we hope to attract photographers not just locally, but regionally.

The closest similar space is in Pittsburgh. Ed Dreikorn, co-owner of Studio32. Dreikorn, a photographer himself, sees Studio32 as a way to support and develop the local photography scene, which is made up of dozens of talented professionals and serious hobbyists.

“It’s easy to find space to shoot photos outdoors during the warmer months. But the winter months leave many photographers with few options for photo sessions.”

Dreikorn added.“Studio32 allows them to offer senior pictures, portraits, and lifestyle sessions throughout the colder months.” Studio32 is available for commercial and non-commercial shoots.

In addition to studio space, it offers a supportive creative community and access to props and backdrops, expanding the possibilities for photographers of all kinds.

Photographers can join Studio32 as a member or rent space by the hour. Membership levels range from $150 to $500 per month. The highest level includes 40 hours of studio time per month, and the lowest includes 10 hours per month. The studio is also available to rent for$30 per hour, $80 for a half day,or $150 for a full day.

“Our goal is to eventually host workshops, exhibits, and mini-sessions by area photographers. There are so many skilled photographers in our region. Studio32 will allow them to expand their businesses by offering them great space, professional lighting, and other resources,” Dreikorn said. Studio32 is scheduling tours now for local photographers. It will officially open in January 2021.
